Jatoba engineered Flooring

Another popular hardwood used for flooring is Jatoba; the tree is grown in South America, Brazil and the Caribbean, growing to around 40m, with the trunk growing to about 180cm in diameter. It is also known as the Guapinol Tree and as well as engineered jatoba flooring, it is used to create beautiful, unique furniture. Jatoba engineered has been referred to as South American Cherry, although it is not related to the Cherry tree at all.

Jatoba engineered wood flooring is very beautiful, durable and hardwearing , making it ideal for floors (hardness measure of 230 ibf) and once installed, you should not need to replace them ever again. It is available in a unique tanned colour which has black stripes that develop over time. When exposed to sunlight, these stripes go a lovely red colour. This wood is regarded as the most luxurious floor by many.

Purchasing engineered 18/4 x 120 Jatoba flooring offers several advantages:

  1. Stability: Engineered Jatoba flooring is designed to be more stable than solid hardwood flooring. It consists of multiple layers of wood, with a top layer of Jatoba veneer. The construction allows the flooring to resist the expansion and contraction that can occur with changes in temperature and humidity, making it suitable for areas with fluctuating moisture levels or radiant heat systems.

  2. Versatility: Engineered Jatoba flooring can be installed in various areas of the home, including basements and areas with concrete subfloors, where solid hardwood may not be recommended. Its dimensional stability makes it a versatile choice for different environments.

  3. Durability: Jatoba is naturally durable, and the top layer of Jatoba veneer in engineered flooring provides excellent wear resistance. The 18/4 thickness (18mm thick with a 4mm wear layer) allows for multiple sanding and refinishing cycles, extending the lifespan of the floor and making it more resistant to wear and tear.

  4. Moisture Resistance: Engineered Jatoba flooring offers improved resistance to moisture compared to solid hardwood. The layered construction helps to minimize moisture-related issues such as warping and cupping, making it suitable for areas prone to moisture, like bathrooms or kitchens.

  5. Easy Installation: Engineered Jatoba flooring is designed for ease of installation. It often features a click-lock or tongue-and-groove system, allowing for straightforward installation without the need for nails or adhesives. This can save time and money during the installation process.

  6. Design Options: Engineered Jatoba flooring comes in a variety of finishes, styles, and plank widths. You can choose from different surface textures, such as smooth, hand-scraped, or distressed, to achieve your desired look and feel. The 120mm width provides a balanced and visually appealing plank size.

  7. Sustainability: When purchasing engineered Jatoba flooring, ensure that the wood used in the product is responsibly sourced from sustainably managed forests. Look for certifications such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to ensure ethical and environmentally friendly practices.

  8. Resale Value: Engineered Jatoba flooring, with its durability and aesthetic appeal, can enhance the value of your home. Potential buyers appreciate the beauty and longevity of Jatoba, which may contribute to a higher resale value.

It's important to consider your specific needs, budget, and the conditions of your space when deciding on any flooring material. Consulting with professionals or flooring experts can provide further guidance and help you make an informed decision based on your requirements.
